About The Event
Volunteers with excellent fine motor skills, attention to detail, and a love of organization are needed to help sort and process library books at our next school library project at Roosevelt Elementary School in Redwood City. Book processing involves stamping, adhering bar code labels, alphabetizing, covering the books with mylar covers, organizing the books, and shelving the books.
A casual pizza lunch will be provided around 11:30am for those without dietary restrictions.
This volunteer opportunity is for adults and teens age 16 and up only. Each person volunteering must be signed up individually.
Roosevelt is a school in the Redwood City School District with students in grades TK - 5. The school’s mission is to inspire students to “DREAM of their futures, BELIEVE in themselves, and ACHIEVE their goals: Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it.” One of the most powerful ways students can do this is through a love of reading. Since the majority of Roosevelt’s students are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged their school library is likely to be their primary source of pleasure reading books, so having engaging, up-to-date and diverse books at school is especially important. We invite you to join us to help expand their library with books that spark curiosity, reflect their experiences and open doors to new worlds.
