Who Should Apply
If you believe in literacy for all, enjoy content creation and connecting with the community, this volunteer opportunity is for you. Some experience in marketing, communication, social media or creative production are preferred but not required.
Position Overview
Access Books Bay Area is seeking dedicated and creative volunteers to join our nonprofit organization. We are committed to promoting literacy and supporting young readers in Bay Area public schools. As a Marketing Volunteer, you will work with the Access Books Bay Area marketing team to play a crucial role in raising awareness, engaging our online community, and sharing the impact of our programs through compelling content across our social media, website and email communications.
Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Develop engaging and relevant written and/or visual content for web, social and/or email that aligns with our nonprofit's mission, focusing on promoting literacy and our initiatives in Bay Area public elementary schools.
- Storytelling: Craft compelling stories about the impact of our programs and the success stories of young readers, inspiring our audience to get involved and support our cause.
- Campaign Support: Assist in the promotion and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives through social media channels.
- Ideas: We need your help on campaigns, new social media channels and online trends to help us build awareness and fundraising in the Bay Area.
Requirements
- Passion for literacy and education, with a strong interest in supporting young readers in public schools.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Basic graphic design skills; familiarity with content creation tools like Canva are a plus.
- Basic copywriting skills
- Enthusiasm for volunteering and making a positive impact in the community.
Time Commitment
The social media volunteer position is flexible and can be tailored to fit your schedule. We estimate a commitment of approximately five hours per month.
About Access Books Bay Area
Founded in 2016, Access Books Bay Area serves public elementary school readers in underserved Bay Area communities where 80% or more of the student body lives below the poverty line. Access Books Bay Area is 100% volunteer operated and all funds go directly to providing new, culturally relevant pleasure reading books and school library refurbishments to create a welcoming reading environment.
