About The Event

A message from our founder and Executive Director, Amanda Collins:

Since founding Access Books Bay Area in 2016, it has been my great pleasure and honor to serve as Executive Director, staff librarian, website developer, fundraiser, public speaker, content creator, tax preparer, and more. We have done amazing work, and have put together a fabulous team of dedicated board members and volunteers. One of my goals throughout has been to bring people on to the team with more expertise and experience than me in the areas that were not my specialty, to make our organization even better. We now have a wonderful website manager, we have wonderful content creators, and we have a team dedicated to fundraising – all of whom are doing far better than I ever could. My life has also changed quite a bit since 2016. With the addition this year of my second daughter, as well as continuing to work full time as a school librarian and leading Access Books Bay Area, I find myself increasingly wishing that I had someone else with passion, vision, and nonprofit management experience to share the leadership role with as well.

And so Access Books Bay Area is looking for a new Executive Director, to allow me to step back to where I am best suited – as a librarian and head of operations, the founder, and the president of the board. We are a small organization with no paid employees, and so we are looking for someone who has the passion and experience required to run a successful nonprofit, and time to donate. If you or someone you know fits that description and is interested in joining our amazing team of dedicated volunteers, please check out the job posting below.
